The owners of this home approached CS with a unique request. The property is sometimes rented out through Airbnb and requires the lounge room to be divided into two when occupied. We provided a cavity slider with a 2-metre wide door to achieve this. Not wanting to compromise on light flow to the room when the door is closed, they chose NewYorker® glazed door leaves. To provide privacy, the door has been fitted with switchable privacy glass from SwitchShield. When privacy is required, the owners can simply turn the switch on to provide power to the door, instantly changing the glass from clear to opaque.
The CS ElecTrack system has been developed to transfer power from a switchable source to our NewYorker door. It can be used for surface sliding or cavity sliding doors in single, biparting or fixed/slide configurations. It is usually specified for commercial use but provides a unique multi-function solution for this residential space.
The NewYorker is a versatile door leaf that can be supplied fitted with a variety of glass or other materials up to 10mm thick. Single or multiple lighting configurations are available and the frame can be supplied pre-finished in a range of colours.
